Altan is named after the cooling sea breeze at Domaine d’Aussières. Its peppery notes enhance the aromas of thyme, sage, juniper and rosemary, accenting a rich core of cherry and praline.
Vineyard
Altan is named after a wind that blows in from the sea. The grapes are selected from the plots at the base of the slopes that separate the property from the Mediterranean, thus benefiting from the breeze that brings freshness and humidity and tempers the sometimes dry, arid climate. These conditions allow the berries to maintain a good balance and to keep relatively fine skins.
Vintage
Winter 2021 was characterized by relatively cool temperatures, with several frost episodes. There was low rainfall in the months that followed. Harvest began on September 13.
Tasting Note
Aromas of fresh flowers, enhanced with peppery notes and cherry covered in praline, aromatic herbs (thyme, sage, juniper, and rosemary).

Its vinification focuses on preserving that freshness and it shows notes of ripe red fruit, sweet spice, blackberry, pepper, and garrigue.

Aussière’s cool microclimate matures the Grenache and Syrah for this wine slowly, developing a wide palette of flavors. The top 50% of certain plots of stony and sandy soils go into this rich rosé with notes of blood orange and raspberry, decadent now but with the structure to age for five years or longer.
