Harpers has highlighted the growth of Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) in a dedicated story, including quotes from Dog Point Vineyard owner Ivan Sutherland as he is the AMW chair. Since its launch 18 months ago, AMW includes more than 90 certified wines from the region’s leading wine producers. The purpose of creating this appellation was to protect the integrity of wines produced that are made from 100% Marlborough grapes, grown sustainably and bottled in New Zealand. “Appellation Marlborough Wine is about protecting the reputation this region has worked hard to build. It provides the wine buying public of the world with an assurance they can see and trust,” explains Sutherland. He continues, “We’ve now trademarked the brand in all of the key global wine markets which has been a huge undertaking. This is the first step in protecting a NZ wine that has now become a global icon.” Read more about the process and evolution of AMW HERE
